beheld is a subset of Dan Hawken Photography, it's aim and focus is to help women rediscover themselves by seeing themselves in a new light.
behold session is where you can completely relax, leaving your fears and insecurities. This is a space for you to explore and reveal the true essence of who you are, sharing your inner strength and beauty with the world. There can be real power and healing in having photos that show just you.

Sessions are relaxed and laid back, they're about feeling comfortable and exploring new things.
As your photographer, my job is to help you see yourself the way others do. To capture the softness, the fire, the strength, and the vulnerability that make you you. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being real, and deeply confident in your own skin.
There is something incredibly powerful, and even healing, about having a beautiful portrait that is just for you. Imagine looking at a photograph of yourself and feeling a genuine rush of excitement. That is exactly what a beheld session is all about!
This is so much more than just a photo shoot, it’s a wonderful, uplifting experience. It’s a chance to reclaim the parts of yourself you might have forgotten about, or perhaps have never fully appreciated before.
A beheld session is your chance to press pause, and reconnect with the woman underneath. The one who still loves to feel sexy, bold, and absolutely magnetic. You know she’s in there... we’re just giving her a little spotlight.
And yes, this is all about you. But let’s be honest... your partner is definitely going to be a fan of the final result (if you show them)

No studio, no waiting room, no strangers passing through. Just you, in the one space that's entirely yours.
Because Beheld sessions take place in your home rather than a studio, trust matters more here than almost anywhere else. So here's exactly what you can expect.
Every session starts with a conversation, not a camera. Before we ever pick a date, we talk through what you're comfortable with, what you're not, and what you want the session to feel like. Nothing happens that you haven't agreed to, and you're in control from the moment I arrive to the moment I leave.
What is a beheld session?
Imagine looking at a photo of yourself and feeling excited, proud, even a little in awe. That’s what happens in a beheld session.
Many people call it a boudoir photoshoot, but what ever you call it, it’s a transformative experience that reveals the parts of you you may have forgotten, or never fully seen.
It's not just about showing skin, in fact many of the best photos are about covering and just revealing what you want to.
Who sees my photos?
No one but you, unless you choose otherwise. Your images are never shared, published, or used for marketing without your explicit written permission. If you're happy for select, fully approved images to feature in my portfolio, I'll always ask first, and you can say no with zero pressure.
Will I be comfortable with a male photographer, in my own home?
Some women are initially unsure about this, others actually prefer it. I guarantee a calm, completely professional atmosphere from the doorstep onward. I'm not there to "look at you", I'm there to create beautiful images, focused on lighting, emotion, posing, and making sure you feel good in your own space.
What happens to my images afterwards?
They're stored securely and privately on encrypted drives. They are never left on public cloud services or shared devices.
Can someone be with me?
Of course. Many women feel more comfortable with a friend, partner, or chaperone present for all or part of the session, just let me know in advance so we can plan accordingly. There's no pressure either way, whatever helps you feel at ease is the right choice.
Will I look "too exposed," or showing more than I'm comfortable with?
Never more than you choose. We agree the level of coverage before we start, and you can adjust at any point during the session, including stopping altogether, no questions asked.
